Dear Quilting Community,

The single question I have received the most over the last 10 years is, “So, when are you going to retire?”

It is with a heavy heart that I announce my retirement from the world of quilting. Over the years, I have had the immense pleasure of sharing my passion for quilting with all of you. However, due to health issues within my family, it is time for me to step back and prioritize my loved ones. Most of you know my husband Richard and daughter Stacy, they both now require my daily attention. Please keep them in your thoughts.

I am incredibly grateful for the support and camaraderie I have experienced throughout my journey in this industry. From the lively interactions at trade shows to the warm gatherings at quilt guilds, every moment has been a cherished memory. Your enthusiasm and dedication to the craft have inspired me beyond measure.

As I embark on this new chapter, I am offering my remaining inventory for sale throughout the month of June. It would mean the world to me if you could help me clear out these treasures, ensuring that they find new homes where they will continue to inspire creativity and joy. You can find them all at

Thank you, from the bottom of my heart, for allowing me to be a part of your quilting journey for the last 53 years. Your friendship, support, and passion have been the highlights of my career. Though I may be stepping back from the limelight, the love for quilting will forever remain in my heart.

With heartfelt gratitude,
Marti Michell

Quilters Love Perfect Patchwork Templates!

From Marti Michell Perfect Patchwork Templates are actual size templates that include 1/4" seam allowances. They are laser cut from 1/8" thick acrylic with corners that are engineered to make pieces fit perfectly and reduce bulk. Designed for rotary cutting, they can also be traced around for scissor cutting.

• No pinning or guessing required • No more "dog ears" ensnared by the throat plate • No shadowing through light fabrics • No going back after sewing to trim excess bulk – it's trimmed away at the same time the pieces are cut. • The thick acrylic templates mean you can rotary-cut multiple layers of fabric at one time.

Start with Strips

No matter which shape your are cutting, it is most common to first cut a strip that is the same width as one dimension of the template, then use the template to create the desired shape. Much more information can be found in 8342 | Encyclopedia of Patchwork Blocks, Volume 1 >

They are PERFECT for:
• Rotary cutters–Cut multiple layers at one time • Shapes and sizes–Specific-size 1/8-inch thick acrylic pieces. No guessing which line to use on a ruler • 1/4-inch seam allowances already added • Laser cut accuracy on every piece • Corners–Not just blunt but revolutionary double blunt corners engineered for perfect alignment • Permanent identification system • Companion tools for strip cutting and piecing techniques.

I have been using these templates for years and love them.  I just finished four 14” Mariner Compass quilts and decided I need more than just the few sets I had.  Your templates are AWESOME and make my quilting experiences very enjoyable.  I have mainly been quilting only hexagon and octagon patterns (up until the mariner compass), but as you can probably tell by my order, have decided to branch out and expand my experience.  I’m a cut and piece quilter and don’t enjoy paper piecing (I don’t really enjoy applique either unless I can piece first), so your templates are absolutely perfect.

Again, thank you so much for your wonderful products and the myriad of ideas you’ve given me.
