Add Float - Diagonal Set Triangle Ruler

Adding Float Using the Diagonal Set Triangle Ruler

To make blocks appear to float on a background, or to create float between the blocks and the border, cut larger corner and setting triangles. Using our Diagonal Set Triangle Ruler, cut triangles 1 or 2 sizes larger than the block size.

1. In this diagram, there is float between the blocks and the border.

2. To make a quilt like the one in the diagram, cut setting triangles 1 or 2 sizes larger than the finished block size shown on the Diagonal Set Triangle Ruler. Sew them to the ends of the diagonal rows as shown below, then sew the rows together and add the corner triangles.

To add float to the sides of a block that is set on point, cut larger triangles and build in float automatically.
